Be Prepared for Severe Weather

Regardless if the inclement weather is Hurricane #Barry, an ice storm or a tornado let’s make sure that we are prepared.  We have compiled a list ways to prepare, and links to local area utilities companies to help us be safe.  Let’s all be safe and take care of each other.

Here are ten tips for you and your family:

1. Make a family emergency communication plan and include pets.

2. Have emergency supplies in place at home, at work, and in the car.

3. Check on your neighbors to make sure they’re okay.

4. Know what to do before, during, and after a flood, tornado, hurricane.

5. Home insurance takes 30 days to take effect, so purchase now to protect your family!

6. Listen to local officials by radio, TV or social media.

7. Evacuate when advised by authorities.

8. Avoid low lying areas that are prone to flooding.

9. Never drive or walk through flooded streets; Turn Around, Don’t Drown!

10. Stay away from downed power lines.
