By now, you are aware of the local 501c3 not-for profit group Friends For a Cause. This group is committed to seeing a need in our community and filling said need.

Yesterday, Anna, Fabienne, and Suki of Retreat Home Health Services met for about an hour at Harvest Texarkana Food Bank.   Camille Wrinkle and her staff have been instrumental in FFAC’s mission to put together emergency food bags/boxes for area senior citizens age 65 and over who have no family, nor a way to get to a grocery store, for staple goods and necessities. We also are attempting to assist those who are shut-ins or disabled. At last count, the group had requests from 300 persons. With most people on stay at home status, it is difficult to get volunteers. So we did our best to learn how to efficiently box and tape the foodstuffs from Harvest.

For those of you who have been contacting us regarding your request for the emergency items, please know that we are working around our jobs, as well as working for your assistance. Yesterday we were able to assemble right at 50 food boxes, thanks to Harvest Texarkana. Toilet paper, cleaning items, hand sanitizer will be added as well. We put a little dent into our big number.

Please remember this: your senior citizen must be the one to call and ask for assistance, themselves. The number is 903-792-0282. Or they may email miriam@retreathealthcareservices.com

We all thank you for your patience. We want to help. So many need the help.

Oh, and if you would like to make a financial donation towards the effort, simply go to PayPal.
