One of the most amazing things I ever saw the first summer I moved to the USA was real-life fireflies lighting up the night. I always assumed it was some sort of country folklore. Now with the overuse of pesticides, urban light pollution, destruction of habitat and other factors, these magical beetles may become extinct.
