The Bowie County Joint Operations center announced five deaths among thirty-five confirmed cases of Covid-19 in the Bowie County.

Due to medical privacy issues, no names or city of residence was given by officials at today’s meeting. Also a 72 year old inmate in the Barry Telford Unit passed away according to the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.

One EMT is Bowie County has contracted the virus and is being treated according to Bowie County Emergency Managment Coordinator Eric Schlotter.

Five people who contracted the virus in Bowie County have completely recovered.

Cass County has five confirmed cases, two who have recovered.

Miller County has 16 confirmed cases. Of course we are all waiting on test results of over 250 people who were tested at the drive up testing which was held Monday at the Lansdell Family Clinic. Another drive-up Covid-19 testing will be held Thursday at the Trinity Baptist Church parking lot from 10am till 2pm.

Bowie County Judge Bobby Howell extended his Shelter-in-Place order. That after Texas Governor Greg Abbott extended his emergency declaration through the end of April.

Officials continue to ask citizens to limit their outings to essential activities to cut down on the transmission of the virus and continue social distancing.

Judge Howell recommended the use of face masks when out in public as another tool to cut back on the transmitting the virus. Officials say they believe the state of Texas may be about two weeks away from reaching its peak as far as Coronavirus cases are concerned.
