If you don’t feel helpful or useful to the general public during this COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic…you are more important, than you realize.

According to Dr. Peter Marks of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration,

People who donate blood are equivalent to those people who are working in a critical infrastructure industry. In volunteering to do so, they are contributing immeasurably to the public health of our nation. In order to ensure that blood is available to those who need it most, it is important for healthy individuals who are able to donate to take the time to do so.

We all have that opportunity to help, to be somebody in this crisis, to be important. This Tuesday, April 7th,a Community Blood Drive will be held at Wadley Regional Medical Center, in the LifeShare Bus, from 1:30 PM until 7:30 PM.

The blood drive is open to anyone and everyone well and healthy enough to donate blood.  Due to social distancing there will only be a few people allowed on the bus at intervals.  This will take a little extra time to space everyone out so please be patient.

Also, be sure to check with your phlebotomist/technician. During this world-wide health crisis, some restrictions on blood donation have been lifted.

Melanie Eaves, LifeShare BloodCenter Account Manager stated,

We are in need of all types of blood and we need community support at this time. LifeShare is following the FDA and CDC guidelines as always just increasing the power.  The bus is sanitized consistently before, during and after the blood drive.

Remember, YOU are Essential. Please donate blood.
