The Live United Bowl committee has done itself proud with the selection of the two teams for this year’s bowl game.
It will be Henderson State University versus Missouri Western State University in the big game this year. The Agent Barry Live United Bowl is in its 7th year and features Division II College teams.
The game will be played at noon on Saturday, December 7th at Arkansas High Razorback Stadium. The announcement was made today by Bowl Committee Chairman Alan Brown. The two schools Presidents, Athletic Directors, and Head Football Coaches all spoke about how important it was for their respective schools to be invited to play in the bowl game.
The Henderson State Reddies come in with a 9-2 record and are coached by Scott Maxfield. This will be their first appearance in the Agent Barry Live United Bowl.
The Missouri Western State Griffons are coming to Texarkana from the MIAA Conference for the second year in a row. They finished the regular season with a record of 8-3.
The two teams will arrive in town on Thursday evening December 5th. They will reach out into the community on Friday at places like Texarkana Resources for the Disabled and Runnin’ WJ Ranch, and others.
Friday night December 7th will be the Jeans, Boots, and Barbecue Banquet, which this year will be held at Texas High School starting at 6 pm, followed by the Community Pep Rally also at Texas High at 8:00. Legendary football coach Billy Dawson will be the featured speaker at this year’s banquet.
Tickets for the banquet are $25 dollars for ages 6 and older. Five and under are free. Those tickets can be purchased online. The Pep Rally is free. Both team’s bands, dance teams, and cheer teams will perform at the pep rally and at the game.
Tailgating at Razorback Stadium the morning of the game is encouraged. Gates will open at 10:AM. Both adult and student tickets to the game can be purchased at any Mil-Way Federal Credit Union location. Adult tickets only can also be purchased online. Tickets will also be sold at the gate on game day. Adult tickets $10, student tickets $4.
There have been a lot of great matchups through the first six Live United Bowl Games, but on paper, this may be the best yet!!
