Area officials are saddened after the loss of the Mandeville Volunteer Fire Department Assistant Chief.

It is with deep sadness and a heavy heart that the Miller County Judges Office announce the death of Mandeville Arkansas Volunteer Fire Department Assistant Chief Lucas Stephenson. On Tuesday, October 27th, 2021. Stephenson passed away in the line of duty while responding to a call for service on State Hwy 296 near Joey Lane.
Lucas was 25 years old, employed with Cooper Tire, and a graduate of Arkansas High School. He served the citizens of Mandeville and all of Miller County as a certified Fire Fighter since 2013 and was promoted to Assistant Fire Chief in 2019. Lucas was a member of the Miller County Dive Team serving as a Master Diver.
Firefighters and friends will be joining together this evening at the Mandeville Volunteer Fire Department to honor Lucas.
Miller County Judge Cathy Harrison said, “Lucas was an integral member of first responders here in Miller County. He would respond to help with any event that required his experience and training, sometimes even alone. We are devastated by his untimely passing and request the public to honor this family, most of which are also firefighters.”
First Responders, firefighters, law enforcement and emergency medical services put their lives on the line every time they walk out the door. They know the dangerous response situations they can encounter and the sacrifice they may provide for their community, yet they take that chance.
We ask our community to join us in prayer for all family and friends of Assistant Chief Lucas Stephenson during this time.
