Meet our TAPD New Assistant Chief of Police

Texarkana Arkansas Police Department has announced the promotion of Captain Bobby Jordan to TAPD Assistant Chief of Police. Captain Jordan’s commitment to excellence is evident throughout his career. We know he will continue to serve our community with his desire to inspire excellence and determination to ensure the mental health of his peers.

The Texarkana Arkansas Police Department wants to congratulate Captain Bobby Jordan on his promotion to Assistant Chief of Police.
Prior to Texarkana Arkansas Police Department, Assistant Chief Jordan served four and a half years as a Flight Engineer in the United States Navy. After receiving an Honorable Discharge, he joined the Bowie County Sheriff’s Office, where he served as a Deputy.
Assistant Chief Jordan began his law enforcement career with the Texarkana Arkansas Police Department in March of 1995. During his tenure with TAPD, he has been assigned to the Patrol Division, where he served as a patrol officer and a Field Training Officer, as well as a Sergeant and Assistant Shift Commander.
He has served in the Criminal Investigation Division as a Detective, Sergeant, Lieutenant and is currently the Division Commander. Assistant Chief Jordan has served on the SWAT Team as an operator team leader and is currently the Commander.
In August of 2016, he was promoted to the rank of Captain. In December of 2021, Assistant Chief Jordan graduated from the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s National Academy, Session 280, in Quantico, Virginia.
During his tenure, he has been awarded many letters of commendation as well as receiving the Police Commendation bar twice, Officer of the Quarter, Officer of the Year, and the Life Saving Award. He has received many letters of commendation and appreciation throughout his career.
