O Monster Tree, O Monster Tree

No matter what your financial situation is right now, or your personal life is throwing at you, we here at KPGG and KOOL all generally agree: We Need a Little Christmas. So we find our ways to celebrate.

Case in point: yesterday afternoon, one of our salespersons extraordinaire Angela Turner, came back to the station with a small box. “Hey, guys! Look at what I found on clearance!” Inside the box, was a small, pre-lighted tree, with a cute base. Now, Angela has a real talent for decorating, without over-decorating. She doesn’t go gaudy, the effect is both seasonal and comfortable. Pleasing to the eye, if you know what I mean. ‘Just Enough’.

So Angela begins to set up the little tree. “I have bought some little Christmas ornaments, just enough to add some color,” she said while opening the package of colored ball ornaments. And that’s when I remembered that I had some Christmas ornaments of my own.

If you know me at all, you know that my favorite movie monster of all time is Godzilla. Godzilla was the brainchild of director Ishiro Honda and first appeared in movies in 1954. So, for my lifetime, there’s always been Godzilla. I would race home after school, catch some of ‘Dark Shadows’, a very popular horror-goth soap opera, then watch the afternoon movie. Many were horror movies… several starring Godzilla, with his buddies Rodan, MothraAnguirus, even Monster Zero. There was even Godzilla Junior. I was happily entertained, until dinner, or until my mother made me go to the kitchen table and finish my homework.

I ordered these Godzilla ornaments, not knowing exactly where I was going to use them. Looking at them, they are kind of small…they wouldn’t fit on my already-eclectic tree at home. So, watching Angela decorate, I offered my little Godzilla family. We giggled like kids, and tree-trimmed with glee, as all these different Godzillas were placed on the little tree.

Here’s our tree, in all of its glory. You are welcome to come by and have a look. And of course, we have candy in the bowl below the tree. Ask the UPS guys…they know.

We need a little Christmas…even if it’s only a tiny tree, featuring the King of the Monsters.
