The Texas High Tigers bye week has arrived, and it comes after a big win over Sherman last Friday night at Tiger Stadium at Grim Park.

The Tigers will rest this Friday night as they get ready for their final two regular season district games of the 2019 season. Texas High will play at Wylie East on November 1st and have Senior Night at home on November 8th against West Mesquite.

Texas High remains in the hunt for a playoff position after their 27-20 victory over Sherman. The Tigers had another big night from running back Tracy Cooper who rushed for over 130 yards. Quarterback Rian Cellers returned for his first district game of the year and threw for over 200 yards and rushed for another almost 70 yards.

Tiger Head Coach Gerry Stanford, liked what he saw, “Tracy has been consistent all year. It was good to have Rian back and really pleased with his performance.”

The Tiger defense bent a bit at times but definitely did not break, and they really clamped down on the run according to Stanford,“Defense did a great job holding them to 54 yards rushing.”

Of course the coach realizes that the QB and running backs are only successful if the offensive line is doing their job. Stanford adds, “The offensive line has done a great job all year and continue to get better each week.”

One good thing for the Tigers is they can have time to focus on the task at hand with the off week. To prepare for  Wylie East and keep their playoff hopes alive. Coach Stanford says, “We are injury free right now and will continue to try andd improve in the open week.”

With Cellers back and the ever present Cooper, along with that Tiger Defense its a good bet Stanford’s team will have an excellent chance to make the playoffs this year!!
