Texas High Yearbook Staff Honored

The recognitions keep on coming for the Texas High
School 2019 Tiger Yearbook and staff.

Following the recent selection as “Best of the Best” from Texas Association of Journalism Educators, the Tiger Yearbook has now been recognized as one of the nation’s top scholastic yearbooks by the National Scholastic Press Association (NSPA). Only 62 finalists in the country were chosen for the annual Pacemaker competition.

The NSPA Pacemaker is one of the oldest awards for scholastic journalism. Pacemaker finalists will be recognized during the April 2020 Spring National High School Journalism Convention in Nashville, TN.

Additionally, Quill & Scroll International Honorary Society for High School Journalists recognized student staff members of the 2019 Tiger Yearbook with the Blue & Gold Award for Staff Excellence in Comprehensive Writing.

This award notes the best high school journalism offers. Winners of this prestigious award have distinguished themselves in visuals and/or writing categories in the regular Yearbook Excellence Contest. Also, the Tiger Yearbook Staff was named a Sweepstakes Winner for Index.

Individual students earning First Place Sweepstakes Awards were: Cayli Clack & Kayla Teague for Academics; Sarah Jane Paddock for Student Life.

Other winners for Second Place through Honorable Mention Sweepstakes Awards were: Meredith Green & Cort Rainwater, Academics; Cort Rainwater, Honorable Mention Sports; Holland Rainwater, Honorable Mention Student Life Photo; Kaitlyn Rogers, Third Place Sports Action Photo; Haley Wood, Honorable Mention Student Life.
