Texas Sports Fans Will Soon Be Attending Outdoor Pro Games

Today, Thursday, May 28th Governor Abbott has announced that fans will now be allowed to attend outdoor professional sporting events in most Texas counties.

Starting Friday, almost all Texans counties will be able to host in-person spectators for outdoor sports in venues with only a 25% capacity. The leagues will first have to apply to — and receive approval from — the Texas Department of State Health Services.

Keep in mind under this revised rule, fans are still banned from attending indoor sporting events. Sadly it seems this rule has not addressed high school or college athletics.

As you know Governor Abbott has already permitted certain professional sports like baseball, football, car racing softball, golf, and tennis to resume in Texas starting May 31. Initially, it was stated that these games would go on without fans in the stands. It seems the great state of Texas is working to start the college football season on time, with at least some fans in the stands.

We have the complete proclamation here for you to review.

The health agency’s protocols for adult recreational sports participants include a recommendation of wearing face masks during sporting events and practices, screening individuals for symptoms of COVID-19, and using and carrying hand sanitizers.
