All of our Pig Partners and our KOOL Krewe are talking about Valentine’s Day. Naturally, I want in on the discussion. Which, of course, sends me to thinking of music.

According to this page English School Newspaper, here are the top choices for Valentine’s Day snogging in the U.K.

The Top 10 Valentine Songs

    • “Perfect” by Ed Sheeran.
    • “Love Story” by Taylor Swift.
    • “There’s Nothing Holdin’ Me Back” by Shawn Mendes.
    • “Love Me Now” by John Legend.
    • “All My Life” by K-Ci & JoJo.
    • “Some Type of Love” by Charlie Puth.
    • “Almost is Never Enough” by Ariana Grande & Nathan Sykes.
    • “Little of Your Love” by Haim.
    • “All You Need is Love” by The Beatles.
  • “Love on Top” by Beyoncé.

Now aren’t those nice? That’s the youth in England’s response. Let me find something from this side of the pond.  Here in the USA, and because I am in radio, I will rely on Billboard Magazine, for their Top 10 Love Songs of All Time (out of a list of 50)

  1. ‘Endless Love”, Diana Ross and Lionel Richie
  2. ‘I’ll Make Love to You’, Boys II Men
  3. ‘We Found Love’, Rihanna, feat. Calvin Harris
  4. ‘How Deep Is Your Love’, the Bee Gees
  5. ‘Silly Love Songs’, Paul McCartney and Wings
  6. ‘I Will Always Love You’, Whitney Houston
  7. ‘Let Me Love You’, Mario
  8. ‘Because I Love You (the Postman Song)’, Stevie B
  9. ‘Best of my Love’, The Emotions
  10. ‘I Can’t Stop Loving You’, Ray Charles

Not a shabby list. Not at all. Billboard used these criteria for choosing the list.

The ranking is based on actual performance on the weekly Billboard Hot 100 chart. Songs are ranked based on an inverse point system, with weeks at No. 1 earning the greatest value and weeks at No. 100 earning the least.

And that is great. Only, other than Ray Charles, all of the listed music was Top 40 Pop. Yes, we DO lay claim to Ray Charles being a country artist. ‘Modern Sounds in Country and Western Music’, from 1962, should satisfy that, once and for all. But: where’s our Country Music? Hold on…

From countryliving.com , here is this list, perfect for our 103.9 and 98.5 listeners.

Of course, these are OPL’s…Other People’s Lists. Did I miss your favorite love song or Valentine’s Day song? Please share those with me, for either KPGG or KEWL. YOUR song just might show up on Valentine’s Day, during my shows.
