Our friend LaFonda sent us a message yesterday, from some of her Elvis Presley fan pals, It said that Mac Davis is in the ICU, post-op from heart surgery…and he isn’t doing very well.

If you’re wondering what Mac and Elvis had in common, it’s not that big of a stretch. Mac Davis wrote a couple of the King’s biggest hits, ‘In the Ghetto’, “Memories’, ‘Don’t Cry Daddy’ and ‘A Little Less Conversation’. Over the years, Mac has been an active part of, and panelist during Elvis Week, in August, in Memphis.

We reached out to others in the music industry. Gene Watson knew the situation, and posted this.

Please send your prayers out for  Mac Davis

. His management says “we deeply appreciate your love and prayers at this time” for Mac who is critically ill following heart surgery in Nashville.

We contacted Kent Wells, who told us that he had no details…”We are praying for him. A Super Nice Guy.” And his boss lady issued a tweet, as well:

Mac Davis has been a hitmaker since the 1970’s. The Lubbock, Texas native had various crossover country and pop hits, his own network tv variety show, a Broadway play, and acted in several movies, most notably, ‘North Dallas Forty”, among others.

We are sending up a prayer for Mac today.  And as my friend Cris says, ‘Thank you for the music.’
