With temperatures in the mid to upper 90s forecast for at least the next week, please use extreme caution when doing any outdoor burning.

That’s the message from the Miller County Office of Emergency Management on their facebook page:

OEM checked with our Resident AFC Ranger here in Miller County for an overview of our current wildfire danger. Humidity is forecast to be in the upper 30’s this week which is favorable for wildfires. The fuels (grasses) are browning which lowers their ignition temps drastically. Open burning should be done cautiously and mitigate surrounding fuels before burning. Never leave a fire unattended. At this time a burn ban is not needed.

The OEM says they were called to a controlled burn that got out of control Tuesday South of Fouke.

Although this message is from Miller County authorities, the same caution should be used anywhere across our Four States Region, until we get widespread and appreciable rainfall.
