Proudly we wave ole glory, the universal symbol of our great nation. United, we stand with our stars and stripes. Today is a great day, June 14th, because, in 1777, the Continental Congress in Philadelphia adopted the Stars and Stripes as the national flag. Also, on this date in 1954, President Eisenhower signed the bill that added the words “under God” to the Pledge of Allegiance.
