And, no…it is not ‘Go Rest High On That Mountain’.

Last year, Vince released his album ‘Okie’. The songs are a mix of, well, what makes Vince Gill, Vince Gill. Some songs are about some of his heroes, such as Merle Haggard and Guy Clark. Others relate to the Christian faith, with titles such as, “The Red Words”, “Forever Changed”, and others. This Sunday’s song is a song of faith, and how Vince found his.

From the Rolling Stone magazine last year:

“All my life I’ve known Jesus/But that connection never came,” sings Vince Gill at the top of his new song “When My Amy Prays.” A hushed, vulnerable ballad that deals in doubt and the strength that comes with love, “When My Amy Prays” is the latest release from Gill’s upcoming album Okie.

Over restrained piano chords and softly brushed drums, Gill sings about not fully understanding or feeling the presence of a higher power until he experienced it through his wife, singer Amy Grant. Seeing Amy pray, he sings in each gently rising-and-falling chorus, gives him a glimpse at something larger and fills him with hope.

A couple of months ago, Amy Grant was honored by the T. J. Martell Foundation. At the Gala, Vince and their daughter Corrina Grant Gill performed this together.
