Good news for residents and businesses in Bowie County as the hospitalization rate has remained below 15%, therefore, allowing restaurants and bars to reopen with fewer occupancy restrictions.
PRESS RELEASE: TEXARKANA, TX— Bowie County Judge Bobby Howell and the mayors representing cities in the county received notification Thursday, February 4, 20201, from Dr. John Hellerstedt, Commissioner of Texas Department of State Health Services, notifying him that COVID-19 hospitalizations in Trauma Service Area F have remained under 15% of capacity for at least seven consecutive days.
According to Executive Order GA-32, signed by Texas Governor Greg Abbott in October, Trauma Service Area, TSA F, no longer meets the definition of a high hospitalization area and so may reopen to the higher levels allowable under GA-32. This effects restaurant capacity and bars in the area.
Additionally, all licensed hospitals in the TSA may resume elective surgeries as set forth in Executive Order GA-32.
TSA F includes the following counties: Bowie, Cass, Delta, Hopkins, Lamar, Morris, Red River, and Titus.
Texas DSHS reports 122 new cases in Bowie County since Thursday, January 28, 2021 for a total of 4,290 positive COVID-19 cases, 1,733 probably cases with 159 deaths. The Department of State Health Services is reporting 453 active cases currently in Bowie County.
