Bridges and Overpasses Pre-Treated Just in Case

Just in case the weather gets bad, the Texas Department of Transportation has taken some precautions to try and at least make things safer on the roadways.

With a Wintry Mix moving into the area overnight Tuesday into Wednesday morning, TxDOT had crews out yesterday putting a brine solution on many of the counties bridges and overpasses.

In the case of a light event this would keep the bridges and overpasses that are treated from getting as slick as quick or hopefully as bad as they would without treatment.

Of course anytime that frozen precipitation occurs, those exposed parts of the road will freeze much faster than other areas.

If things should get bad, remember to drive safely. Slow your speed, keep distractions to a minimum, give plenty of room between you and other motorists and don’t slam on the brakes.

Whether the roads get bad or not, the weather will begin to improve on Thursday, and a nice weekend with some sunshine on Friday and Saturday and a warming trend in on the way.
