Churching Up Social Media

Now that we are social distancing at the least, and sheltering at home the most, many persons are missing their church on Sundays and Wednesdays. Leave it to our area ministers to work around that.

Many churches, both large and small, are having a church service that is recorded on YouTube or another platform. My friend Jim Harris has been pastoring his flock at Bethel Baptist Church. His sermons are called Preach the Word. You are welcome to have a listen there.

Our long-time friends at First Baptist Church in New Boston have been broadcasting for many, many years now on KEWL 95.1/www.MyKOOLRadio.com 11 AM on Sunday mornings. And a big shout-out to Kelley Branson, up in the sound booth, by the way.

Even our pastor and friend at Maud First United Methodist Church has gotten into the game, in his own way. Rev. Ross Hyde has been sending emails of his Daily Devotional. He also posts a prayer for us, on the FUMC Facebook page. Here is Ross’ prayer for today.

A Prayer For When You Feel Alone
By Rev. Ross Hyde March 31, 2020
Dear God, Thank you that you see us right where we are, in the midst of our pain and struggle, in the middle of our desert land. Thank you that you have not forgotten us and never will. Forgive us for not trusting you, for doubting your goodness, or not believing you’re really there. We choose to set our eyes on you today. We choose joy and peace when the whispered lies come and say that we should have no joy or peace.

Thank you that you care for us and your love over us is so great. We confess our need for you. Fill us fresh with your Spirit, renew our hearts and minds in your truth. We ask for your hope and comfort to continue to heal our hearts where they’ve been broken. Give us the courage to face another day, knowing that with you before us and behind us, we have nothing to fear.

In Jesus’ Name,
Amen.

Whether you watch television ministry networks, such as EWTN or any of the evangelical networks, or local ministries that are televised…or you are interested in reading, seeing or listening to any of the devotionals that are offered, why not have a look at local churches, and see if their preacher is offering something online? This will hopefully help us feel closer to God, in agreement with at least one other person. This is something to help feed our soul, now and in the future. Also, if you recommend a local pastor or church with a media message, you are welcome to let us know about that.

Be Well and Stay Safe.
