Kelli’s COVID-19 Claustrophobia Cure

begin-jpg

Is it just me, or is there something very therapeutic about a project? Especially if the project results in a little dirt under your nails.  With the ever-changing news about COVID-19 and the lifestyle changes it has brought – the need to focus on something normal and productive is overwhelming.

The old wooden box was something my father used to carry brushes and other grooming tools for our horses. I don’t know who originally made the box – my dad or one of my brothers, but being the antique that it is, it has seen better days.

So I decided that I would knock the dirt dauber nests off of it, hammer in new nails to shore it up, slap on a new coat of paint, and give the box a new purpose.

The paint for the old box was something I had from a previous project and the flowers were purchased weeks ago, but poor weather and illness kept me from putting the sweet Gerber daisies (one of my all-time favorite flowers) into the four clay pots.

The sight of my completed project brings me joy. It’s a connection to my past and my father and a reminder that change isn’t always bad… it’s just different.

Now I’m off to wash my hands… just dirt and paint, y’all, nothing life-changing.
