One of my all-time favorite shows Friends will end its long run on Netflix after today (Tuesday). On Wednesday, the sitcom’s 236 episodes will no longer be available to stream anywhere in the U.S.
Between January 1, when Friends leaves Netflix, and May, when it premieres on HBO Max, the only way to watch the series is through actually purchasing individual episodes, seasons, or you can dig through your closet and find the Friends DVD collection I gave you for Christmas 10 years ago. While you are in there, see if you can find the Friends Trivia Game we used to play.
Sadly Friends leaving Netflix is just the beginning. By 2021, Netflix subscribers who want to watch The Office — the most popular show streaming on any service (and one I have watched IN FULL at least 20 times)— will have to sign up for NBC’s Peacock service.
Kind of sad that in the excitement of ushering in the new year we have to say goodbye to our dear Friends… Ross, Rachel, Monica, Chandler, Joey, and Phoebe we will miss you.
