The Pleasant Grove Hawks will take their #1 ranking and 3-0 record on the road to Gladewater Friday night to take on the Bears.

The Hawks are coming off a 48-17 thrashing of the Atlanta Rabbits. This game saw a PG recorded breaking performance by Senior Quarterback Ben Harmon. Head Coach Josh Gibson had this to say about Harmon’s and the teams outing. “We played GREAT as a whole team on both offense and defense. Both sides played extremely physical. Ben played a great game, almost flawless. He hit on 7 of 9 passing for 235 yards and 6 TD’s. His performance will go down in the books and probably stand for a LONG time.”

The atmosphere at Hawk Stadium was unbelievable with the absolutely packed stands and a team of skydivers who landed on the field just prior to kickoff, bearing the Texas and American Flags. Coach says its something that a lot of people have been working at, “We’ve been trying to create the BEST atmosphere in the STATE of Texas and a lot of people work hard to do this. Our Band, Showstoppers, and Cheerleaders perform at a high level to create a great experience. Then, we add in community events like tailgating, PGYA appreciate night and the skydivers to make it even more memorable.”

The Hawks being #1 in the state and unbeaten, just didn’t happen it’s because of a lot of work from the coaches and players, and the desire to be the best in Texas. Gibson adds, ” We have a ton of kids playing really well. Production is really high on both sides of the ball and I believe we will continue to get better each week. With so many kids playing well, we’ve been able to get A LOT of kids playing time. That’s a great reward for everyone in the program.”

Now the Hawks travel to Gladewater to Hawks tackle the Bears. They are another highly touted opponent for PG this year. “Gladewater is the 4th straight team that we will play this is state ranked. They beat us last year at home. They have some really good underclassmen and will be a very good football team for the next three years. They play physical football on both sides of the football.”

Hawk fans travel well, so expect a big crowd to head to Gladewater, temperatures should actually be a little cooler for this game than the first three Friday nights. And enjoy the entire evening, because Coach is right. The whole Hawk Nation puts on a tremendous show, from the players, the band, the Showstoppers, and the Cheerleaders.

It’s fun to watch!!

GO HAWKS!!
