It’s National Police Week and now is the chance to thank and honor those in our area who gave their lives during their service to the community.

One of those officer heroes was Lt. Ed Worrell of the Texarkana Arkansas Police who died in the line of duty over 43 years ago.

Here is his story from the Texarkana Arkansas Police Department and Officer Down Memorial Page:

This week is National Police Week. This week is set aside for us to remember those who have fallen in the service of the law enforcement. Today, we honor the memory of Lt. Ed Worrell, who was shot and killed as he and another officer responded to a burglary alarm on February 3, 1977. A hero remembered never dies.

Thank you to Lt. Ed Worrell and his life, and to his family and brothers and sisters in law enforcement for all they do daily to protect our community.
