Lorrie Morgan has posted a touching tribute to her late husband, country legend Keith Whitley, on her Instagram account. The country singer shared a video of herself performing an acoustic version of Whitley’s hit song “Don’t Close Your Eyes”, which was written by Bob McDill and released in 1988 as the third single from his album of the same name. The song reached number one on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart and is considered one of Keith Whitley’s signature songs.
On Lorrie’s Instagram page, she wrote: “This is my favorite Keith Whitley song to sing. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do. Love you, Keith.” She also added the hashtags #dontcloseyoureyes, #keithwhitley, and #lorriemorgan.
Morgan and Whitley were married in 1986 and had a son, Jesse Keith Whitley, who is also a country singer. Whitley died of alcohol poisoning on May 9, 1989, at the age of 33, leaving behind a legacy of timeless country music.
