While watching ABC Evening News, we were so pleased to see a positive and educational story for young children, with Miss Megan. Um…who?

Megan Jessens is a former kindergarten teacher and now a part-time pre-K teacher, who is at home during the pandemic. She is a mom herself, who is teaching live on Facebook and YouTube every weekday morning from 9:00 AM until 10:00 AM. Megan says that it was for her two girls, ages 6 and 4, that she began her Camp Kindergarten in the first place.

“I’m an advocate of routine and structure,” she told “Good Morning America.” “I knew for my own girls we would do better with a morning routine. It helps me, too.”

With that thought in mind of helping children at home, Jessens asked on her Facebook page if anyone else would be interested. Turns out that they were. 15,000 people were in her group, even before her online class went live. Now Miss Megan’s Camp Kindergarten has over 87,000 viewers, and is still growing.

What happens for the morning hour? Kids can join Megan and her two daughters live for “morning meeting,” where they will participate in calendar, counting, days of the week, months of the year, weather, morning message, letter of the day, songs, and a story. This group is perfect for children ages 3-7.
