Outhouse Memories

So I still cannot find any TP when I go looking. I guess eventually this might turn into a messy problem for me. But for now, I’m ok. I don’t have any idea what people are doing with all these rolls of TP?

Is there some great recipe that you use TP in that I’m not aware of? Or making TP fashion clothes?

But at least if this TP lack continues I know what to do. I have fond memories of visiting my Gramps on his sharecropper farm when I was very young. He had no running water and he had an Outhouse.

It was out in the field behind the house. I remember the rough unpainted wood. How it looked and felt. I remember worrying about getting stung by wasps every time I had to go.

I also remember there was NO TP in the Outhouse. But there were plenty of “used” corn cobs. I’m guessing that the corn had first provided food to the family and after drying in the sun it was recycled as homemade TP.

So I’ve been eyeing the corn more and more each time I go to the store and find no TP available. But I’m pretty sure it would not be a good idea to try and flush any corn cob down my toilet. So maybe it’s time to get some lumber and build my own Outhouse.

What about you? Are you wondering what the future without TP holds? Let me know your thoughts on this delicate issue.
