The Pleasant Grove Hawks have made a good habit of playing November and December football at “The Star” in Frisco.

This year will not be different as the Hawks travel there on Saturday to take on Salado indoors. Coach Josh Gibson had this to say about the frequency of playing at that spectacular venue. ” Our kids love The Star..they always ask me to secure that venue if possible on games where we would have to travel at least 2 hours. We’ve had a great run at The Star. We’ve actually played more playoff games there than any other team in the state at this time. We are undefeated in playoff games at that location too.”

The Hawks got there by eliminating Nevada Community last week in a runaway at home. Coach Gibson was thrilled with the whole night, saying, ” It was an awesome night! First hosted playoff game and it couldn’t have gone any better. We had a great crowd and an excellent win.”

It seemed like half the PG team at some point touched the football as a rusher. Gibson explains,“We had 15 running backs carry the ball. Some teams don’t have 15 running backs on their entire roster. Its special when you to get to play this many players. All of them work hard and when they are rewarded with playing time and carrying the ball, its awesome for them, our team and our parents.”

Quarterback Ben Harmon had another extremely accurate night throwing the football. “Ben had a GREAT night. He’s been great all year for us. He threw the ball really well and the wide receivers did a great job of getting open.”

Now its on to The Star to take on Salado. Gibson says it will be a test for his Hawks. “Salado is one of the most disciplined and well coached teams that we will play all year. They run the slot-t, very similar to what we do, and will try to shorten the game and play smash mouth football.”

The good news is that PG remained healthy after the Nevada Community game and coach says they are good to go for round two of the playoffs.

Kickoff is 4:30 and it will be nice and comfortable inside “The Star”.

Hawk Nation travels well, and hopefully it will seem almost like a home game to these Hawks!!!
