Strange things are happening in Texarkana! TTPD respond to a 911 call regarding shots being fired and found evidence of shots being fire but no one with injuries. A local hospital reports a woman who a gun wound was at the ER. We have complete details to follow.

We responded to a 911 call about shots being fired in the 700 block of Old Boston Road late Wednesday night. We found evidence in the street of shooting – but no victim. Minutes later, the emergency room at Christus St. Michael called and said that a 23-year-old woman who had been shot had just been dropped off by an unknown man.
Detectives D.E. Evans and Thomas Shaddix learned that the victim was sitting in her car with her child when her ex-boyfriend, Jimmy Mitchell, walked up to her and they got into an argument over something. At some point during all of this, Mitchell pulled out a gun and shot through the windshield, hitting her in the arm. He then drove her to the hospital but apparently didn’t want to hang around to talk to us. Luckily, the victim is expected to make a full recovery.
The detectives were able to get a felony warrant for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon that same night for Mitchell, and he turned himself in on Thursday afternoon. He is currently being held in the Bi-State Jail with a bond of $75,000 for the Aggravated Assault charge. He also had a couple of traffic warrants and one for misdemeanor Assault Causes Bodily Injury (Family Violence).
