Texarkana Giving Back to a Friend Dwight Nevill

dwfunz

Dwight Nevill is a personal friend of mine. I’ve known him for, what, nearly 25 years now. I first met him about the time I met my husband, because they rode motorcycles together.  Now you and I have an opportunity to say ‘thank you’ to this quiet giver, who has helped more people than you know…or maybe you. Please join us this Sunday, November 3, 11:00 AM, or after church, for Dwight’s Day. You’ll feel better, knowing that you can help a helper.

Dwight had a bike shop for many, many years in New Boston. Many of us were shocked and surprised, when he went out of business, and began his version of retirement.

But the things you may not know about Dwight Neville:  he is a close to being a local philanthropist…not to the level as the late Ross Perot, but he has done much for our community.

For years, Dwight, his family and friends, have been the backbone and the face of Toys for Tots, out in Bowie County. When we volunteer for the program through our Maud FUMC, it’s Dwight who delivers to us.
Dwight has worked with the New Boston Chamber of Commerce, helping to raise funds to improve the community. He has held Sunday bike days and events, to quietly fund a program, where he assists veterans, people down on their luck, who need the lights turned back on, those who are hungry, those who need medicine…even scholarships. He has headed up the Bowie County Ride for Toys for Tots every December, for the last 25 years. And all of this time…Dwight has stepped up, but quietly.

Now Dwight Nevill needs our assistance, for a change. Dwight is battling stage 4 lung cancer. He is being treated in Tulsa. Teresa says that Dwight is staying positive, and the chemotherapy isn’t making him sick. Now, there’s a blessing, certainly.

This Sunday, we have an opportunity to give back to this quiet giver.  A benefit for Dwight is being held at Scottie’s, on Highway 67 West. Starting at 11:00 AM, Crooked Halo is scheduled to play, with possibly more bands coming on board. It will be a cool surprise. To support Dwight there is a $10 cover charge for single entry and $20 per couple.  Twenty percent of Scottie’s sales for Sunday will go to support Dwight, Teresa too, for travel, paying bills, and various needs. Auction items are needed and requested, too. Find out more, by going to this link:
