The nation has lost a true entrepreneur, with the passing of H. Ross Perot.

The 89 year old Perot passed away in Dallas after a reported battle with Leukemia. Perot was born June 27th, 1930 in Texarkana, Texas. He graduated from Texas High and served in the U.S. Navy.

After he completed his service Ross became a salesperson for IBM before founding Electronic Data Systems in the early 1960’s.

A devout American patriot, Mr. Perot was very active in the Vietnam War POW/MIA issue. He ran as an Independent Candidate for the Presidency in both 1992 and 1996.

Perot contributed much of the restoration cost to the Old Saenger Theatre, later known as the Paramount. Of course Perot Theatre is the home to many events today thanks to Mr. Perot.

Perot never stopped helping his hometown. In 2012 the billionaire donated $1 million to Texarkana College to save the then financially strapped institution from closing. He kept coming back to keep his promise of donating $5 million.

Its very easy to say the College is in operation today because of the caring and generosity of H. Ross Perot.

Perot is survived by his wife Margot, his five children, 16 grandchildren and a sister.

Perot who obviously is one of the most famous, if not the most famous person to have come from Texarkana will be missed.

Texarkana should be proud to have called him one of our own.
