Texarkana’s Local Craft Beer Scene

Possibly one of the best-kept secrets of Texarkana, though not on purpose, is the local craft beer scene. The beer world is a galaxy far beyond the beloved Bud Lights of the world. Though some set in their ways sultans of suds may wish to not move beyond the tried and true, one’s beer adventure has new rays shining on the foamy suds if only they look to the stars and broaden their brewing horizons.

Downtown is where you will find two of the finest local craft brew outlets. Pecan Point Gastropub and Brewery has been around for several years now, cementing itself in the burgeoning downtown dining and cultural scene. Besides a dynamite menu (their stuffed mushrooms are to die for, y’all) and wonderful cocktails (possibly the best Bloody Mary in the
city), you have a range of beers produced right there in their local brewery, with new flavors being introduced regularly, and with special options for those who want to sample.

Red Bone Magic is a newer entry, on the more southern sector of Texas Boulevard. Intended to be a modern version of the pub where the town gathers to share company and tell tales, they also have a local brewery with their own suds to sample. Keeping it simple with uncomplicated, locally made bar food, owner Roger Sheppard’s motto for Red Bone Magic is,
“Make Texarkana Fun Again.”

30 Burger on the northeast turn of Texas Boulevard is an outlet of local craft brews. I haven’t had a chance to go and sample what they have, but they emphasize local, in both beer and burgers, so the local flavor is their thing.

Pancho’s Brewing Lab on New Boston Road gives you a chance to get in the game,
making available supplies and aid in becoming a crafter yourself.

And finally, to talk with fellow beer enthusiasts and hobby brewers, find the Four States
Fermenters on Facebook. Cheers, me hearties.
