The Old Black Friday

Remember the Good Ole Day’s of the Original Black Friday? Back when the stores were all closed on Thanksgiving. When the newspaper had tons of circulars filled with Black Friday Deals? When you had to get up early to go stand in line for the stores to open on Black Friday. Oh, those were the days.

But now, just like it seems that Christmas starts right after Halloween…Black Friday seems to start earlier and earlier each year. Don’t get me wrong. I like a deal as much as the next person. But I really think it was “special” when it was confined to One Day.

You could eat your Thanksgiving and watch some football…and sleep off the Turkey and desserts. Then you could get with friends and family to plan your assault on the stores to fight for those doorbuster deals.

Of course by the time you got in the store most of the bargains were gone. Then you had to decide on your second or third choice. It was an adventure from beginning to end. Now it just seems to be a Sale that never ends. It starts days before Black Friday and goes on days afterward.

What do you think?  Should we just call it Black November and just have sales every day?  Did you like it better the way it used to be?  What are your thoughts and feelings on “Black Friday” and how it is now?
