The unyielding of our men and women in blue that serve our community has no limits. We want to take this time to thank both Texarkana Texas Police Officers Tiffany Harper and Karey Harper for stepping up and making Texarkana better.

TTPD Officer Harper’s resolve to serve her community becomes illustrated with her recent Life-Saving Award presented by TTPD Chief Schutte. In December, Harper responded to a shooting finding a victim in critical medical condition. Her life-saving medical attention quite possibly saved the victim from bleeding out.

Chief Schutte presented awards to two of our officers this afternoon in recognition of their extraordinary actions.
Officer Tiffany Harper was presented a Life-Saving Award. She was one of the first officers to respond to the scene of a shooting in December. A man was found bleeding outside of the residence, and officers were able to determine that he had been shot. Officer Harper, who is also an EMT, kept her finger inside a serious neck wound to stop the bleeding there as she continued to assess the victim’s other four gunshot wounds. Her actions that day were instrumental in saving the man’s life. Chief Schutte noted that, while Officer Harper has only been with the department for a 1 1/2 years, she has already distinguished herself as an excellent officer who is kind, courteous, and a professional in every way.
Officer Karey Parker, who is a Neighborhood Area Coordinator, was awarded the Certificate of Merit for his behind-the-scenes work representing our department in our community for several years. Officer Parker has grown relationships throughout the city by his volunteerism, selflessness, and genuine investment in the community he serves. He is well known and respected not only by city personnel but the public as well. On any given day, Officer Parker can be found planting trees in an underserved neighborhood, handing out Christmas gifts to children that he purchased with his own money, or reading to kids at one of the elementary schools. He truly exemplifies the best of each of us through his kind and generous spirit and his “can do” attitude.
Please help us congratulate these two exceptional officers and thank them for their service.
