Walmart is considering shutting down all of their self-checkout machines. The word is that they’re testing this in Canada, and if they find that it reduces the amount of missing items, they may remove self-checkout machines from all of their stores. According to Walmart, they are losing 22 billion dollars each year due to honest self-checkout mistakes or shoppers who “forget” to scan certain items. It’s disappointing because weI have become quite accustomed to scanning our own groceries.
