This is a serious question. What did you learn in school? I know you learned to read and write and to add and subtract. But besides that kind of book learning what did you learn that you still use today?
I can honestly say that in High School I really only learned one thing. How to TYPE. Of course, it was on a typewriter. Don’t see many of those anymore. But I can actually type when using my computer. No hunt and peck for me. So those tax dollars paid off for me I guess.
In college, the only thing I learned was how to swim. Well, I guess I should say “barely” swim. My mom thought if I did not know how to swim I’d never drown because I’d stay out of the water. I know that doesn’t make much sense. But my mom was terrified of the water. So it made sense to her.
So I never learned to swim till I took it as an elective in college. I still cannot float. But I maybe could do the sidestroke if I fell out of a boat and swim to safety. That is as long as I didn’t have to swim much farther than across a pool. So I guess I should only go fishing in an Olympic pool?
Ok, now that I’ve shared how much I squandered my educational opportunities in my youth…what about you? What did you learn and still use in Real Life these days? I promise not to judge you too harshly.
